Commercial property in Eastleigh

Eastleigh is a town in the county of Hampshire, nestled between Southampton and Winchester. It has a population of 78,716 and was ranked the 9th best place to live in the UK in a 2006 Channel 4 programme.

Eastleigh began life as a railway town in 1838. It was decided that a station was needed between Southampton and Winchester during the construction of a local railway by London and South Western Railway (L&SWR), so the tiny village was expanded. Subsequently, many of L&SWR’s operations were moved to the town from London, which are still active today on a smaller scale.

Eastleigh has seen rapid yet controlled expansion of its industrial, commercial and residential developments over the last decade, giving people who live and work in the area excellent options for their homes and businesses.

Eastleigh Aerodrome was the site of the famous Spitfire’s first flight, which was constructed in nearby Southampton. A replica of the iconic plane now sits on the roundabout at the entrance to Southampton Airport, which is located in the town.

Eastleigh’s most notable business is B&Q, which has its headquarters in the town. Its close proximity to the cities of Southampton and Winchester makes it a popular commuter town, as it’s around 25 minutes’ drive to get to either.

The town is also well connected by public transport. Journeys to London Waterloo take around an hour and 20 minutes from Eastleigh Railway Station. It is also well-connected to other nearby cities including Bournemouth and Poole.
