The site is located on Middlehouse Road, to the north of Redditch Town Centre. It is bounded to the north and east by the Alvechurch Highway (A441) and to the south by Middlehouse Lane. The land is a cleared site, which is currently unoccupied and the western boundary is bounded by Redditch Fire Station. Middlehouse Lane leads from the A441 to the west which links to the centre of Redditch to the south. To the west, Middlehouse Lane leads to Winsor Road which serves a collection of Industrial Units and estates. To the east, the Alvechurch Highway (A441) leads to Junction 2 of the M42 Motorway, providing links to the M40 and M5 Motorways. Residential development is located to the north west of the site, as well as to the south west, with a relatively new development of houses and apartments located further down Windsor Road. Nearby amenities include Sainsbury s Supermarket and Petrol Filling Station, Kingfisher Shopping Centre, a Premier Inn and the Abbey Stadium Sports Centre. Redditch Train Station is also located within 1 mile of the site.
The site was previously allocated for residential in the adopted Local Plan of 2006 and is also allocated for residential in the New Local Plan which was submitted to the Secretary of State on 12th March 2014.
