Historically the building was used as the Assembly Rooms for the Town for many years and as a Pre-WW1 armoury and drill station for C Squadron Montgomeryshire Yeomanry and A Company, 7th Battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers and later as a base for the Home Guard in the 1930's, as well as Girl Guide meetings and Brass Band practice.
