2015 marks the 50th anniversary of Grant and Partners. Established in 1965 by Tony Grant, the firm has always been based in the West End of London and quickly established a reputation for being active industrial agents and surveyors. The Practice was the first West End firm to open a permanent office in London's Docklands in the late 1980's where they quickly established themselves as lead agents on a large number of the early enterprise zone developments including advice relating to Canary Wharf.

The Practice expanded into office business park and out of town retail agency in the 1990's acting for many of the main developers and retailers of the time. The Practice was acquired by four of the current equity Directors in 1995 following a restructuring. In 2006 they formed a strategic alliance with Riley Consulting, a multi disciplined construction and property consultancy, which enabled access to a network of offices throughout the UK and now internationally. In 2007 Grant and Partners acquired Mills and Wood, a niche Practice of agents specialising in industrial agency in west London. The firm changed its name to Grant Mills Wood to reflect the acquisition.

On the Professional side, three of the five Directors are Registered Valuers and also on the panel of Arbitrators and Independent Experts appointed by the RICS to deal with rent review disputes.

The Firm has a particular reputation for giving expert evidence in planning Inquiries with regard to issues relating to loss of industrial land and retail impact. Grant Mills Wood is part of Riley Consulting and as a group covers all aspects of property development, construction, agency and professional advice.

Grant Mills Wood is now one of the most active agents in the west London industrial agency market as well as having a thriving professional department dealing with all aspects of valuation, landlord and tenant, expert evidence, dispute resolution and other general practice instructions.
